September 9
Next day just like that! Because we felt wiped from the Dole Plantation and we haven’t checked out any other beaches besides the one outside our condo, we sought out a well known one, Waimea Bay. It was on the list of recs from my friend and when we passed it driving to Dole yesterday, it seemed like the perfect place to go.

We got ready to go early because we were nervous about finding parking, having the goal to get there by 9am and pack a lunch that we could be tied over for a while and stay there. The beach was absolutely gorgeous. We found parking easily, made our way to the beach, stabbed the umbrella into the sand, and set up our chairs around it. We were planted there all morning. I was enjoying the view so much I didn’t want to leave our spot to go into the water and ruin my current observation experience. But, to my left was a cliff jumping spot and I knew I had to give it a go. When I was ready to swim, I planned on cliff jumping into the water and staying there for a swim. I went over to the rock, climbed it, watched the others in front of me to see what they do, and then just followed their lead. There was this nice natural platform that I found myself standing on and then jumping off from.
I didn’t let myself hesitate because there were people behind me, and just went for it. I was a bit scared that jump, mainly nervous about the landing hurting, so I made a point to keep my body in line and go in feet first. It was such a fun jump. I even ended up touching the ocean floor and then I was able to use it to boost me up to the surface. Mom was a stellar watcher and recorded it, having that one and only jump to be my adventure joy of that stop. I swam right after as well because I was warmed up to the water and it was the right transition to also get some swimming in.
I also read a bit on the beach, ate my blueberry peanut butter bagel, and stared out at the view. I also brought my camera which was really fun to have to get some good shots. Poor mother having to be the unpaid photographer. We left early afternoon to get some proper lunch, but it was a dream to spend the morning there.

We made a grocery run on the way back at a bigger store, Foodland, that we passed driving, so I could pick up some veggies, tofu, and beans to add to my meals. These prices were higher than where we shopped previously, this was more of what I was expecting, like a couple dollars difference from what I normally pay.
We stayed at our condo for the rest of the afternoon, going on a beach walk, a way to stay active and enjoy the ocean and views! We walked for almost an hour, having fun along our journey.
We called it a night, wanting to go to bed early because we had an early wake up call for our Diamond Head hike. But, before going to sleep, we turned on HIMYM and watched it on the TV in our room. I chose one of my favorite episodes with the clock and the second that lasted forever for Barney. That was our night and it felt so good to watch one of my favorite shows.
