August 8th

Regan and I still had one more full day together, but today the other girls flying home. Knowing we wanted to spend our entire day at the adult pool, Regan and I tried to go right at 7am to get our same amazing chairs from yesterday. I thought we'd for sure get them because we arrived 15 minutes earlier than yesterday, but because today was a Friday, the start of the weekend, it was much busier and we ended up getting a spot 5 chairs back and the unobstructed view was now obstructed. But, we were thankful for the sunny day and the opportunity to have one more day to rest and relax.
We ordered our breakfast to-go and ate at the pool again, this time I picked up a copy the New York Times printed edition and read todays news while enjoying my smoothie bowl, vibes. Am I Wall Street trader on vacation with their family now? Eating my perfect breakfast, staying at a 5 star resort, and catching up on todays news while staring at the Maui mountain sure made me feel like it.

The girls stopped by for a quick pool moment but they had to leave around 10am to catch their flight. They were sad to leave, as I can only imagine how we will feel tomorrow. This has been an incredible trip, a mixture of absolute fun, treating ourselves, and time for true relaxation. Alex, Gretchen, and Kate headed up to pack and catch the shuttle to the airport but Lucy stayed with us because her flight was later in the night. We all lounged in our chairs for the majority of the morning, partaking in our selected activities. I was reading and writing under the sun umbrella, Regan was getting some sun in the pool, and Lucy was catching up on some reading. The only interruption was a request to take an ocean dip, which was always fulfilled.

For lunch, I had a delicious tofu burrito, which you are correct, was enjoyed on the pool chair. The afternoon looked similar to the morning - reading, chatting, pool, drinks, hot tub, tan, all of the above. For Lucy's last few hours at the resort, we embarked on one last wave tackling session, walked along the beach, talked at the edge of the infinity pool while staring out at the most incredible view of the ocean, and finished off our time in the hot tub. Us three swapped stories and got to know each other better in the last few moments we shared together on this incredible trip.
Regan and I said goodbye to Lucy, and we stayed at the pool until we got kicked out for closing at 7pm. We were hoping to watch the sunset from the pool, but we had to pivot our plan so we hurried to the lobby bar to watch there, but we were a bit late to the party and there weren’t any open seats, so we got a table, thinking we could also eat dinner. We had a 10 minute wait and were fully confident that would be enough time to change out of our swimsuits and into the closest thing to evening wear that would go with our chlorine hair and sunkissed cheeks. When I working against the clock, I will pick a song with a duration similar to the time I have, so today's pick was the 6 minute song Take My Breath by the Weeknd. I threw on my iconic pink SE Asia skirt and new cream tank from Greece and Regan had a super cute beachy outfit as well.

Impressed we were able to get ready in sub 10 minutes, we made it to the lobby and our table was still saved. We started with drinks and then got dinner. We talked and talked, I gave Regan an all encompassed update on the happenings in Lakeville, MN. We reminisced, we laughed, and we had a moment of true quality time that made my heart overflow. With both our busy schedules and living across the country from each other, we only get about a couple hours a year to catch each other up on life. This last week gave us time to go beyond catching up, and get to talk about our common interests and things we've been feeling as of late.
I also asked her the burning question of how I was the lucky one to get the invite? Apparently, I was the first person she asked because she knew I loved to travel! I had the best night with her, sealing a sweet trip with a great day. What an amazing week and experience etched into my life's story.
